Green Bay faces revamped Jaguars secondary

Though two Jaguars defenders would meet him at the right pylon, Rodgers got into the Jacksonville end zone untouched to put the Packers up 6-0 at 9:38 in the first quarter.

The Green Bay Packers are coming from a 17-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in a preseason game. It was sparked by an interception by Joe Thomas. Not only did Lacy stay on the field for every snap, he carried the ball nine times for 45 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run. Gipson left Cleveland and signed a five-year, $36 million deal to be Jacksonville’s single-high safety, a key piece in coach Gus Bradley’s defense.

For the Packers, two players – Jeff Janis and Justin Perillo – are listed as Questionable.

WOE LINE: Jacksonville’s offensive line has given up a league-high 122 sacks the last two seasons and will need to play better if Blake Bortles is going to take the next step in his development. The Jaguars should be able to limit Jordy Nelson, but a healthy Randall Cobb catches a pair of touchdowns.

It was a huge play, but the young Jaguars have shown some resilience.

On Jacksonville’s second drive of the game, the Jags benefited from multiple Green Bay penalties, including pass interference and offsides.

According to the injury report at NFL.com, the Green Bay Packers could be missing as many as six players for their Week 1 match-up.

It’s the hype train against the model franchise on Sunday, as the Packers head to the southeast for an opening day meeting with the Jaguars. The Packers’ report consists nearly entirely of special teams contributors, as no starters appear on the report. “They’ve really struggled with pass rush and Dante Fowler is supposed to add that”, an executive in personnel for an AFC team said.

“And based on how he looks, his fitness level and how he’s been practicing, I mean, I would say that he’s definitely ready to go”. “I’ve never had any worries about his play on the field”, Rodgers said. “It’s important so our children can grow, they can invest, and they can project a healthier and safer community”.
