In a statement today, he said the company is expediting replacement devices so that they can be provided through the exchange program as conveniently as possible and in compliance with related regulations.
India’s aviation regulator DGCA had also prohibited the use of SamsungGalaxy Note7 mobile phones onboard on Friday.
A worldwide recall was issued after reports that several dozen of the new devices had suffered exploding batteries.
The announcement on Sept 2 comes just over two weeks since the device’s launch. The South Korean company said that rechargeable lithium batteries manufactured by one of its suppliers were faulty.
The U.S. was among the first countries to take a step following the recall.
So, until the Galaxy Note 7 will be ready, as it’s now depending on CPSC approval, the owners will receive a Galaxy J device from carriers or even retail outlets.
Luckily sales of the defective phone model have already been halted, and Samsung is working with the CPSC to conduct an official recall of existing phones.
Indeed, the users will have to wait longer for their Note7 replacement because the Consumer Protection Safety Commission must inspect and allow the new units to enter the USA.
Since then, airlines or air safety agencies around the world including the United States and Singapore have warned passengers against using them on flights.
The warning by the independent government agency came a day after the US Federal Aviation Administration told passengers not to turn on or charge Galaxy Note 7 smartphones on aircraft due to the risk of batteries exploding.
