Hillary Clinton Smears ‘Half’ of Trump’s Supporters as ‘Basket of Deplorables’
Clinton – who’s said she’s the candidate to unify a divided country- made the comment at an LGBT fundraiser Friday night at a New York City restaurant, with about 1,000 people in attendance.

Many are likening Clinton’s remarks to Mitt Romney’s much-talked-about “47 percent” comment from the 2012 campaign – a comment to which some attributed Romney’s loss.
Clinton’s poor judgement could really cost her.
She called that particular half of supporters “a basket of deplorables” that “Trump had lifted up”. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic – you name it”. And unfortunately there are people like that.
“Wow, Hillary Clinton was SO INSULTING to my supporters, millions of awesome, hard-working people. He tweets and retweets their offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric”.
Her remarks Friday night at a fundraising event in NY drew sharp criticism from the Republican nominee and his running mate, Mike Pence, who said it revealed her disdain for the American people.
“They do not purchase everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different”.
Kaine points to God and what he calls the lovely diversity of the human family and says he believes “we’re supposed to celebrate it, not challenge it”.
“Obviously, not everyone supporting Trump is part of the alt-right, but alt-right leaders are with Trump”, Merrill wrote.
She went on to say that “many of Trump’s supporters are hard-working Americans who just don’t feel like the economy or our political system are working for them”.
Trump, who has often praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, made the comments in an interview with former CNN broadcaster Larry King, whose podcast was aired on Thursday night, September 8, on the RT network, a 24-hour news channel that broadcasts in both English and Russian.
Trump’s children mocked Clinton further on Twitter, using trending hashtags like #basketofdeplorables to defend their father.
“Putin does not believe that Hillary Clinton will be easy on Russian Federation”. Already the path is much more hard for the Republicans.
Trump’s comments Friday night follow his repeated criticism of Clinton as a “corrupt” politician and came moments after his crowd of supporters erupted in chants of “Lock her up!”
Is Clinton actually incorrect here?
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a rally, Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Pensacola, Fla.
Trump called Clinton’s statement “disgraceful”, and a “grotesque attack on American voters”.
Trump’s remark was reminiscent of a comment he made in January, when he said he could “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” but still not lose any support.
“I campaign on a regular basis with Donald Trump…” But reporters travelling with her campaign were not allowed in and did not see her.
Donald Trump has carved out a wider path to the Oval Office, as a number of states including Florida and OH are no longer considered likely wins for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released Saturday. “I regret saying “half” – that was wrong”.
He pointed to Trump’s praise for Putin as a strong leader and Trump’s assertion that Russian Federation could keep the Crimea region – which it seized from Ukraine – as evidence that Putin has succeeded in getting Trump to do his bidding.
Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway fired back.

And she’s hardly alone. “You just have to look at the maps”, Trump said.
