Police said Runions was driving a black 2012 Chevrolet Equinox with Missouri license plate MN2-C8B.
Police found Jessica Runions’ burned-out auto in Kansas City Saturday, days after she disappeared. Her vehicle was found unoccupied and burned. After several hours, crews called off their search due to darkness but plan to resume tomorrow in daylight.
Police searched the area near where the vehicle was found but did not find any evidence to lead authorities to her whereabouts.
Runions’ family says she was last seen at a house party with her boyfriend and a childhood friend of his, Kylr Yust. Local media reported that Yust’s ex-girlfriend, Kara Kopetsky, disappeared in May 2007, a week after filing a protection order against him.
He’s also been linked to a number of other crimes: assaulting a girlfriend, animal cruelty and drug trafficking, for which he spent the last three years behind bars.
Spokeswoman Capt. Stacey Graves says police consider Runions’ disappearance a suspicious missing persons case. Kopetsky has never been found.
“We are very concerned for her safety”.
