Reagan Shooter John Hinckley Has Been Released from Mental Hospital
A spokeswoman for the District of Columbia’s Department of Mental Health announced on Saturday that Hinckley was among the patients released today.

All four survived, though Brady was confined to a wheelchair until his death in 2014, which was later declared a homicide.
Mr Hinckley had already been spending 17 days a month at his mother’s home in Virginia under strict conditions.
John Hinckley Jr, who is now 61, was released from St Elizabeth’s hospital on Saturday morning and returned to his mother’s home in Virginia. You would think shooting and nearly killing the president would get someone locked up for the rest of their lives, either behind prison bars or in a mental institution, but today, we must show “compassion” for the would-be assassin and allow him to go home to his mother.
Hinckley’s lawyer Barry Levine said that his client will be a “citizen about whom we can all be proud”.
As a 25-year-old college dropout, Hinckley said he wanted to kill Reagan to impress actress Jodie Foster, with whom he became obsessed after watching the 1976 film “Taxi Driver”.
Following the attempted assassination, Hinckley was ultimately diagnosed with acute psychosis, major depression, and narcissistic personality disorder and, according to the court order, he has been in “full, stable, and sustained remission” from the first two diagnoses for more than two decades.
The Post reported Hinckley will live with his 90-year-old mother in Williamsburg, Va., where he has stayed for long visits since 2006. Reagan was hit in the lung.
Once Reagan was elected, Hinckley turned his attention to the new president, despite telling his parents he thought he would be good for the country. He can go up to 50 miles from the city if accompanied by his mom, sibling or a therapist or social worker.
Reagan wasn’t wearing a bulletproof vest when he was shot, and neither was his Secret Service team, since the president only planned to be in public while making his way from the Hilton to his auto.

He must participate in music therapy sessions at least once per month. Additionally, Hinckley is not allowed to consume alcohol, use illegal narcotics, or talk to the press.
