Amazon dishes up another Prime stake with London restaurant delivery service
Coined “Amazon Restaurants”, the delivery service features 148 restaurants that will deliver to customers across several London postal codes who order food from them via the Prime Now app.

The restaurant selection includes Baltic Restaurant and Crazy Bear, as well as chain restaurants such as Planet Hollywood and Strada. Daniel Creedon, head chef at Fitzrovia’s world cuisine restaurant Archipelago, said: “We believe with Amazon’s experience and success in the United States and understanding of logistics in London they are perfectly placed to deliver a service that ensures our food reaches our customers as it should”.
Amazon has promised customers there will be no menu mark-ups or hidden fees to use the delivery service, which will apply to orders with a minimum value of £15.
Similarly apprehensive about home food delivery, Archipelago said it’s willing to give Amazon Prime Now a chance. It also follows the launch of Amazon Fresh food deliveries in the United Kingdom in June. “We are excited to offer 49ers fans the convenience of ultra-fast delivery to make it”. Even more tempting to take advantage of the delivery service is that Amazon’s Prime Now network has access to local restaurants.
The company says that customers will get their money back if they feel their ordered item is priced higher than the item listed on the restaurant’s menu.
But do we really need another food delivery service in London?
Amazon Restaurants first launched in Seattle in September 2015 and was soon rolled out to Prime members in Manhattan, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles and many more.

Jan Woroniecki, owner of Baltic Restaurant, said: ‘Having resisted many other approaches from food delivery companies we made a decision to partner with Amazon on their new service. Like we said, this service is only open to those with an Amazon Prime subscription, but if you’re already subscribed then we guess this service is just an added perk you can look forward to using.
