All of the Hawaiian Islands are under a flash-flood watch through Tuesday night.

Maui Civil Defense Agency will continue to monitor the situation. This activity is expected to continue through the afternoon.

A flood advisory for Lanai was canceled at 3:32 p.m. Weather radar and rain gauges showed heavy rains have ended.

Heavy rains and flooding led to the closure of Apelehama Road near Kalopa State Park; Kupuna Road in Ahualoa; Hualalai Road between Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Heinaloli Road, and Akoni Puli Highwy near mile marker three. Presently all major highways and roadways are open.

A flood advisory means that nuisance flooding is occurring or imminent. Heavy showers have also developed in the Mountain View, Glenwood, and Volcano areas. The advisory is not limited to these areas as it covers the entire island. Heavy rain and possible are likely thanks to abundant moisture in the atmosphere, light winds and daytime heat, forecasters said. People should stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
