Clinton expresses regret for remark about some Trump supporters
“The nominee on the other side promises to do things that will make us less safe”, Clinton told reporters at a news conference on Friday afternoon. Clinton said to the crowd, according to the Washington Post.

Trump rebuked Clinton on Twitter, Conway called for Clinton to apologize, and his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, chastised her in a speech on Saturday.
The FBI recommended against any charges after concluding a lengthy investigation of Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state and the Justice Department heeded that recommendation.
“I’ve said, ‘You gotta do my TV show, ‘ he said, ‘I’m working on it, I’m working on it.'” King told CNN about his conversations with Trump. At a rally in Pensacola, Florida, on Friday, he said Clinton is “so protected” that “she could walk into this arena right now and shoot somebody with 20,000 people watching, right smack in the middle of the heart”.
The comment drew laughs from her audience, and she later said that other Trump supporters are “people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change”.
The decision to release a statement came after video of the comment was played repeatedly on cable and broadcast news Saturday morning.
Clinton has since said her comments were “wrong” but refused to back away from tying Trump to the word “deplorable”.
“He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million”, she continued, referencing Trump’s campaign hire of Breitbart News’ Steve Bannon.
She joked: “That may be one conversion therapy I endorse”.
Trump’s campaign said it did not know the interview would be aired on the Russian network.
It quickly became clear Clinton had to do something.
Trump spoke at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis Saturday, where he said that Schlafly is looking down on those gathered, telling them to “keep up the fight”. “Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it”.
“A lot of this behavior coming from him seems to be expected somehow”, Clinton said. And the way they got out really caused ISIS, if you think about it. “If they want to join us in knocking out ISIS, that’s just fine as far as I’m concerned”.
On Thursday, she called it “frustrating”.
The Clinton campaign, for its part, appears to be sticking to its guns, for now. “How can she be president of our country when she has such contempt and disdain for so many great Americans?”

Trump’s campaign, meanwhile, battling historic unpopularity and a flood of public Republican defections, has been delighted and somewhat relieved to see the polls tighten. “The man has very strong control over a country”, Trump said. John McCain, and Michael Morell, who worked for both Obama and Bush, were also at the meeting.
