Microsoft to reportedly end sales of Lumia by end of year

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 came in three variants in India – Core i5/4GB RAM/128GB SSD, Core i5/8GB RAM/256GB SSD, and with Core i7, 8GB RAM/256GB SSD.

Although they haven’t really been in action for the better part of this year, we have consistently been seeing them slash hug chunks of the price of their presently existing Lumia smartphones with the Windows Phone operating systems.

At its annual October 6 event past year, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Microsoft Band 2.0 and the Lumia 950 and 950 XL smartphones.

Microsoft may have just confirmed a Surface Phone via a cryptic tweet.

Microsoft is said to be intent on using the new processors as it’s reportedly more powerful and will help the Surface Phone hold its own against the newly released iPhone 7. But new reports aren’t encouraging either, indicating that the smartphone can be delayed until late 2017 or early 2018.

Codenamed Cardinal, Microsoft is expected to unveil the much anticipated all in one desktop PC, which is designed and built in house by the United States tech giant, reports ZDNet. Since Inception, it is facing stiff competition from Android and iOS. Now, there are chances that Microsoft’s highly anticipated Surface Phone 2016 might get an October release date. It would have to be pretty insane to be purchased by so many people in order to boost Microsoft’s global market share by a significant percentage.

It’s a known fact that the software giant is attempting once again to be made known in the mobile phone market which is dominated by iPhones and Androids.

In case you were wondering what’s up with all those insane Lumia deals from the recent weeks and months, well, if you’re a fan of the brand like yours truly, today is a sad day.

The fall hardware event could also mark the launch of a bunch of OEM devices, rather than making the event for Microsoft hardware only, similar to past year. The all-in-one Surface PC will run on new Intel Kaby Lake processors. According to PC World, Cardinal will be unveiled next month along with its much awaited smartphone, the Surface phone.
