Singh had said, opposition leaders tried to meet the Hurriyat Conference in their individual capacity, but what the separatists did was neither Kashmiriyat nor Insaniyat.

As the delegation left for Jammu, the Kashmir Valley continued to be tense amid curfew in some parts, shutdown and recurring anti-government and pro-freedom protests. He told the MPs that he will talk when he visits New Delhi.

Some delegates went to meet Hurriyat leaders yesterday. Saugata Roy (AITC); Dilip Tirkey (BJD); Sitaram Yechury, (CPI (M)); Jay Prakash Narayan Yadav (RJD); D. Raja, (CPI); Dushyant Chautala, (INLD); E. Ahmad (IUML); and Tiruchi Siva (DMK).

Separately, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi met the Mirwaiz, the Valley’s chief cleric and moderate Hurriyat leader, Shabir Shah.

“This is a futile exercise”.

In response to another question, Singh ruled out any talks with Pakistan on Kashmir in near future. We will not be able to arrive at any solution if India only talks to Kashmiris or Pakistan talks to Kashmiris. “This is slavery of the worst form so not acceptable to us”, he said. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi was also present during the meeting.

He said “When government gives slogans, some tangible follow up steps should also be taken”.

This, Rajnath Singh said, “was certainly neither “Kashmiriyat” nor “insaniyat” (humane)”.

As summer is paving way to autumn in Kashmir with a nip in the air, separatist politics too is undergoing a tectonic shift. “(The then) Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani himself held number of meetings with Hizbul leaders”.

“Do not take it outside the country”, he said.

“The government should take effective steps to ensure the security of citizens and provide medical treatment to the citizens and security personnel injured in the agitation”, said Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh.

“Dialogue and engagement is a continuous process”. Our doors are open for everyone. She refused to talk to reporters at the venue of the meeting.

“I am convinced that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir will improve”, he said.

“I am sure nobody will die by the use of PAVA shells during mob control”, he said.

Miffed over the cold shoulder given by separatists to the MPs, who were part of the all-party delegation that visited the state, the Centre is reportedly considering moves to curb their foreign travel by withdrawing their passports and denying travel documents in some cases.

In a statement issued here, he advised Rajnath Singh to revisit annals of history and asked to fulfill the promises made by “Indian rulers” to people of Jammu & Kashmir.
