But the Labour MP Clive Betts has tabled a motion for debate at the PLP meeting on Monday night proposing their return.

In his open letter, Mr Smith tells Mr Corbyn: “I’m sorry to say that in her first PMQs in July, you put Theresa May under no pressure at all”.
More than 250 people will descend on JW3 on Sunday, 18 September, for the showdown between Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith – the final hustings before the ballot closes in one of the most bitter leadership contests in memory.
Jeremy Corbyn on Wednesday introduced a green energy agenda “for the 60 million, not the big six”, referring to the country’s major gas and electric suppliers, and said a Labour government would “act to protect the future of our planet, with social justice at the heart of our environmental policies”, if elected to power.
UB40, whose hits include “Red Red Wine” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, is the biggest musical name so far to back Corbyn, who is expected to fend off a challenge to his leadership this month.
However, those excluded included some for tweeting support for the Green Party two years ago and one person for retweeting Green ex-leader Natalie Bennett.
“Right now the chances are we’re out of power for a generation”, he said.
Appearing at a Labour leadership hustings in Birmingham alongside Owen Smith last month, Mr Corbyn was asked if he would respond militarily to a Russian invasion of a fellow North Atlantic Treaty Organisation country.
“How many people do the Labour Party employ, have they got enough people to listen to all of these hearings for these thousands of people who have been suspended? We did not win the referendum and we have to work with the result”, Corbyn said.
Jeremy Corbyn believes Britain should reject key aspects of the single market when it leaves the European Union, he has made clear, sparking a fresh row with some of his party’s MPs.
Corbyn said the abolition of DECC was “short-sighted and irresponsible”. Neither candidate knew the questions in advance.
A spokesperson for the Owen Smith campaign said: “This isn’t a poll – it is a blind assertion”.
The chart-toppers, in their heyday during the 1980s and 1990s, hailed the Opposition leader as “incorruptible” and a “man of the people” as they prepared to join him for a press conference in London.
One member claimed they had been suspended by the party for using the world “Blairite”, while another said they were contacted by Labour over a supposed message sent on a Twitter account which is private.

“I would build a shadow cabinet that reflects every wing of our movement, empower ordinary members to give them a binding vote on policy issues, and bring an end to abuse and intimidation once and for all”.
