Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt Reportedly Not Happening at WWE Backlash Tonight

He hasn’t wrestled since taking on Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam on August 21st. The match was quick and had a brutal finish. The ending was so brutal that rumors circled it wasn’t part of the plan. This is due to Randy Orton failing to be cleared in time to compete. Prior to their match, “The Viper” made an off-color comment about Brock Lesnar failing two UFC drug tests. The reason was not disclosed but many speculated that it was an injury.

Referee Charles Robinson then counted to ten to give Wyatt the official victory over Orton, but the ring announcer then revealed that Wyatt would have a no holds barred match against a mystery opponent, which turned out to be Kane. Randy Orton recently returned to the ring after being out for months because of a shoulder injury.

Kane came in as a last-minute replacement for Randy Orton to face Bray Wyatt, and he ended up winning the match. Wyatt attacked Orton’s leg in the locker room area. There is no word yet on how WWE will handle the situation in terms of its storylines. He is now unable to wrestle coming off his TKO loss to Brock Lesnar at Summerslam in Brooklyn.

According to a report by James McKeena, Orton has been dealing with an undisclosed injury that will prevent him from working tonight’s match with Wyatt.

This is the first brand split exclusive show the company has produced since the draft, and there isn’t much star power to speak of. With John Cena being overseas Randy Orton is one of the biggest names on this card. Additionally, he’s only Superstar to win at the last three Backlash events.
