US Open: Serena not satisfied with second-round performance
Radwanska came into the U.S. Open knowing she could become the world’s No. 1-ranked player if certain scenarios played out in her favor.

The victory moved the 34-year-old American past Martina Navratilova and level with Roger Federer for most Grand Slam victories by a man or woman.
Venus Williams notched up her 70th career victory at the US Open on Thursday, reaching the third round with a crisp 6-2, 6-3 victory over Julia Goerges.
Serena won her first Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows in 1999.
“Definitely feels solid”, she said. I knew at Wimbledon that I wanted to get there. “It was really good for me to have a different type of rhythm and just move the ball around”.
“I just think it should have been a different scoreline for me”. She smacked seven return winners. Below is a full list of singles matches and all you need to watch the action on Monday.
“I knew it was on the horizon”, Williams said of the record.
Yes, there were problems.
Against Larsson, Williams had six aces and won 82 percent of her first-service points, reaching a high speed of 121 miles per hour on her serve while averaging 105 (on her first serve), which has been typical this past week. Reminded of the feat on court afterward, Williams thrust her fist into the air. “It’s not flawless, of course”, said her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou.
“It’s always good”, Williams said casually, “to have Beyonce and Jay in the box”.
Despite the one-sided match, Williams was extremely critical of her performance, convinced it should have been better. Navratilova retired with a 306-49 mark.
In the fourth round, Serena, the top seed in this tournament and world number on, will face Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan and Venus will face Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic. In her previous matchup, Serena took down Vania King of the United States, 6-3, 6-3.
She had just 17 unforced errors – in complete contrast to the whopping 63 in her first-round win.
Williams still is doing it and it’s uncertain whether Woods, who has been sidelined all year with a back injury, ever will do it again. That’s because 19-year-old qualifier Jared Donaldson’s run ended with a straight-set loss to 37-year-old Ivo Karlovic, the oldest man to reach the fourth round in NY since Jimmy Connors was 39 in 1991.

Opening the match on the front foot, Williams wasted no time in claiming the first break of the match in the second game to open an early 2-0 lead. But Murray earned another break to finally clinch the set after 67 minutes, then cruised through the final two in 75 minutes combined.
