Jurassic World 2 director JA Bayona teases big trilogy plans
Trevorrow won’t be stepping behind the camera for the Jurassic World sequel-that role has been given to The Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona. And in doing so, he’s confirmed the new trilogy plans.

Trevorrow had mentioned before that “Jurassic World” was planned as a trilogy.
Bayona’s quotes seem to suggest that Trevorrow had always handled the first Jurassic World movie as part of a bigger picture, which is an outlook that could reflect well upon the upcoming sequels.
As for us, we don’t know much about “Jurassic World 2” just yet, but we do know it will feature returning stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard – and that Colin Trevorrow has stepped aside because he’s busy directing “Star Wars Episode IX”. “Very ambitious. And we’re writing the second chapter, working very close together”. Jurassic World 2 (or Ancient Futures as it is now titled) arrives in United Kingdom cinemas on 8 June 2018, with Pratt and Dallas Howard reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing.
When Jurassic World first came out, so did the critics who felt that its director, Colin Trevorrow, was lacking in his ability to capture what made the original Jurassic Park so great. While that movie is getting rave reviews and a lot of buzz, there is obviously a ton of interest in his next movie, the highly-anticipated Jurassic World sequel. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate.
He’s been chatting about the new Jurassic Park film too, in an interview with LRM.

Taking Jurassic World on as a trilogy project seems to be the right answer in this case.
