Claude Puel says late defeat at Arsenal ‘difficult to take’

In the second half, I think he combined much better.

Arsenal didn’t have a very good start to the Premier League 2016-17 season as they now have one win out of their three games this time around.

Southampton, who remain winless after four matches of the new Premier League season, also saw spot-kicks awarded against them in an away defeat to Manchester United and home draw with Sunderland in recent weeks.

Apart from a late Shane Long shot in the second half, the defensive pairing of Koscielny and Mustafi were pretty convincing.

Asked by Arsenal’s official website if Perez will provide goals, Wenger said: ‘I hope so.

Sanchez got his first sniff of goal moments later but could only arrow an effort over Forster’s crossbar after breaking inside Cedric and into the box. “In the second half, I felt we dominated well again, created many unsafe situations, but couldn’t score”.

“We go now to another game on Thursday and it’s important to keep the concentration”, he said.

Mustafi played the full 90 minutes while Perez was taken off for Olivier Giroud after 62 minutes.

Southampton manager Claude Puel was disappointed his side conceded so late in the game after taking the lead in the first half. The good news, however, is that the Gunners are coming onto their forthcoming game at the back of a win. “We will see how everyone is tomorrow morning”, the Gunners boss added.

Arsenal have now earned three penalties in their opening four games, with Cazorla converting the last two.

“[I look for] the potential of the teams as well, the organisation, the decisions of the managers during the game”.
