Hillary Clinton axes California visit after pneumonia diagnosis

He said: “Secretary Clinton attended the September 11th Commemoration Ceremony for just an hour and thirty minutes this morning to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen. She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule”, Bardack said.

The pneumonia disclosure was made public hours after her campaign said she had become “overheated” to explain why, knees buckling and unsteady, she was rushed from a ceremony marking the September 11, 2001, attacks in NY.

The news of her overheating on the hot, muggy NY morning comes less than 60 days before the November 8 presidential election and at a time of intense campaigning against Republican rival Donald Trump.

Late on Sunday, her campaign canceled Clinton’s trip to California scheduled for Monday morning.

The temperature in NY was about 27 degrees Celsius, combined with high humidity.

US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has been diagnosed with pneumonia, media reports said. “What I can tell you is that many of us (had) a sigh of relief when a gust of wind would come by because it was incredibly stifling”, Democratic congressman Joe Crowley, who stood near Clinton for about an hour at the ceremony, told MSNBC. “I have just examined her and she is now rehydrated and recovering nicely”, Bardack wrote. She later travelled to her daughter’s apartment, and eventually to her home in Chappaqua, New York, before her campaign gave a more complete explanation of what had happened.

“During the ceremony, she felt overheated so departed to go to her daughter’s apartment, and is feeling much better”, Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill had said in a statement.

The political leader was taken ill at a 9/11 ceremony.

Trump had said at an election rally that Clinton “lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on ISIS”.

The source told U.S. media said that the 68-year-old was “clearly having some type of medical episode” and was forced to make an “unexpected early departure”, having to be helped into a van by her protective detail.

They said they found a blood clot on the brain and Clinton temporarily suffered from double vision. She later received the all-clear.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) – For weeks, Hillary Clinton dismissed questions about her health as little more than a conspiracy theory, part of a “wacky strategy” cooked up by rival Donald Trump as he embraced an “alternative reality”.

Trump and his supporters have hinted at Clinton’s potential health issues for months, questioning her energy when she takes routine days off the campaign trail and reviving questions about a concussion she sustained in December 2012 after fainting.

She noted that Sunday’s event was Clinton’s second health-related incident in a week.

Jennifer Lawless, a professor of government at American University in Washington, said Hillary will be under pressure to show she is not laid low by illness.

Democratic Representative Joe Crowley of NY, a Clinton supporter who attended the event, told MSNBC television that it was “stifling” during the ceremony.

“What the Clinton campaign needs to do over the course of the next several days is demonstrate her vitality and viability”. Asked by a reporter about Clinton’s health incident, the billionaire businessman said: “I don’t know anything”. “Thank you very much”, as she smiled, waved and got into her vehicle.
