Modi told Chinese President XI Jinping how the scourge of terrorism was affecting the region. “All sides must peacefully solve East Sea disputes based on global laws”, he stressed.
India has strongly opposed the project as it claims Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistani Kashmir.
Hence, it was “important for us to identify suppliers, exporters and financiers of terrorism, otherwise the world will face a huge challenge and problem in coming weeks and months” was the PM’s message, said Swarup. He was speaking during his intervention at the last session of the G20.
Modi urged the worldwide community to act in unity and respond against terrorism.
Modi told Xi that “our response to terrorism must not be motivated by political consideration” – an apparent reference to Pakistan, India’s arch rival and China’s all-weather friend. “Because anything less than that is not enough”, he said.
“First engagement in Hangzhou is a meeting with the host”.
May was sworn in as Prime Minister on July 13, succeeding David Cameron who resigned after the country voted in favour of exiting the EU.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup quoted the Prime Minister as saying in a series of tweets as saying, “We need a regular dialogue between the IMF, Regional Financial Arrangements and Bilateral Swap Arrangements”.
In his meeting with BRICS leaders, Modi said “terrorists in South Asia or anywhere for that matter do not own banks or weapons factories and are funded”.
He said greater economic partnership would be a win-win for both countries.
According to the PM’s website, the leaders held discussions about boosting bilateral ties.
His meeting with Xi was seen by both sides as an opportunity to set ties on track. She also underlined the great importance the United Kingdom attached to the Indian diaspora in UK.
After a decade of being Strategic Partners, India and Vietnam have formally upgraded their relationship status to “comprehensive strategic partnership”. He referred to the recent launch of the HSBC Corporate Rupee Bond on the London Stock Exchange.
Indian military officials say the plan is to equip regiments deployed on the China border with the BrahMos missile, made by an Indo-Russian joint venture, as part of ongoing efforts to build up military and civilian infrastructure capabilities there.

This relationship has, however, now attained geopolitical dimensions with China, which has also been beaten back by Vietnam, making threatening noises against Indian support for oil exploration in Vietnamese waters as Beijing claims nearly the whole of the South China Sea as its own.
