Auburn rolled the Red Wolves 51-14 on Saturday.

With Auburn leading 21-7, Carlson lined up for what seemed like a routine 30-yard field goal.

“I think (having two good running backs) is very valuable”, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said after the game.

The Tigers needed to reestablish their rhythm, especially on offense.

Next week Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee can see different guys step up in what’s emerging as one of the better receiving corps for the program in coach Gus Malzahn’s tenure.

– White was efficient and poised in his first wire-to-wire start. Armond Weh-Weh added 29 yards and a touchdown. For Arkansas State, that meant getting thumped by three touchdowns against Toledo in Jonesboro. The last time two Auburn players registered their first career 100-yard game on the same day was on September 11, 1982, when Bo Jackson and Lionel James did it against Wake Forest.

For the Tigers’ second game against Arkansas State, that plan was scrapped.

The second half was much of the same as Auburn continued to dominate the game both on the scoreboard and on the stat sheet. KJ scored two touchdowns, the first of which was as electrifying a play as you’ll see all year.

Kerryon Johnson and Kamryn Pettway each tallied over 100 yards on the ground, the first time two Auburn players have eclipsed the century mark in a game since 2014.

– Not a whole lot to complain about here, either.

The offense found its way against Arkansas State with old-school rushing, steady passing from Sean White and even a fake field goal that went for a touchdown.

Kyle Davis hauling in a one-handed grab in double coverage. With the ball on their own 34, Sean White busted up the middle over the left guard for a big 14 yards and a Tiger first down. It looked eerily similar to New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham’s now-iconic catch, and it’ll be on highlight reels all week. The offense sputtered and gave away chance after chance to topple one of the best teams in the nation. Marcus Davis dropped a ball that hit him right in the hands, the first drop for any Auburn receiver this season.

The Tigers blasted Arkansas State 51-14, rebounding from a season-opening loss to No. 2 Clemson when the offense couldn’t find its way. Three out of the four sacks the Tigers registered came from this unit, as did four out of the five QB hurries. The graduate transfer from IL expressed frustration last weekend after the former All-Big Ten Conference linebacker at IL failed to make a tackle and didn’t receive much playing time in a 19-13 loss to No. 2 Clemson.

Auburn linebacker T.J. Neal was inactive Saturday. “And that’s fine. They played a pretty good game”.

A nine-play drive had stalled at the Arkansas State 20-yard line.

Then, midway through the second quarter, Lou Groza finalist Daniel Carlson executed a fake field goal to perfection when received an over-the-head pass from holder Tyler Stovall and waltzed into the end zone untouched.
