Brewers drop second straight to Marlins
Right-hander Matt Garza had been pitching well of late, but the Miami Marlins ended that Monday night, lighting up the veteran for five runs in five innings in a 6-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. The Marlins salvaged the finale of their three-game set in St. Louis as Derek Dietrich erased a deficit with a three-run triple in the fifth inning en route to a 6-4 triumph.

“It was pretty obvious that I wasn’t sharp and didn’t have my best stuff”, Cravy said. “I haven’t been getting away with anything this year, so I really can’t expect to get away with much”.
“That’s all it was; I left fastballs up and they hit them”.
Ryan Braun passed Robin Yount as the franchise’s home run leader at 251 with a grand slam in the fifth. “Obviously you use a little more discretion if it is earlier in the game, but last play of the game you are going to just roll the dice”.
Marlins pinch-hitter Casey McGehee then hit an RBI single in the eighth.
But Milwaukee managed three hits and four base runners over the final four innings against Nicolino (2-1) and three relievers. Catcher Jonathan Lucroy was next and grounded out to short on a play challenged by Counsell. “I think it was close enough”. The Brewers finished with seven hits on the night. He retired the first two batters of the seventh inning before allowing a double and was replaced after throwing 95 pitches. Lohse was charged with a run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout in two innings of work.

Matt Garza is having his worst season since his rookie year for the last-place Milwaukee Brewers, who have undergone changes on the bench and in the front office in response to the club’s overall disappointing play.
Marlins: Miami will start left-hander Adam Conley in Game 2 of the series.
The 23-year-old, acquired in the 12-player deal with Toronto in 2012, was making his fourth major league start.

NOTES: Miami placed RHP David Phelps on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain and selected the contract of RHP Erik Cordier from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday. The Brewers have scored 14 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last eight games.
