Pakistan takes part in China-ASEAN’s 13th Expo

On the evening of the same day, the Vietnamese head of government joined talks with China’s Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli.

China firmly supports the ASEAN Community, backs ASEAN’s central role in regional cooperation and its expanding place in worldwide and regional affairs, said Zhang while addressing the opening ceremony of the 13th China-ASEAN Expo in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Chen Jian, general manager of Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Co Ltd, CGN’s subsidiary, said the establishment of its regional headquarters in Malaysia shows its determination to push forward cooperation in Southeast Asian countries.

Existing problems in the two countries’ cooperation in economic matters, trade, and investment will be addressed in order to bring it to a new developmental phase.

He called for boosting industrial cooperation and facilitation of trade and investment.

“The development of China-ASEAN friendship is an essential contribution to the global stabilization”, Zhang added.

This year’s expo and summit hope to promote new cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in areas such as capacity cooperation, Belt and Road Initiative, China-ASEAN Information Harbor among others. This year’s China-ASEAN Expo picks up on China’s Belt and Road initiative, an economic belt to connect the bloc with world’s second largest economy.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will fund infrastructure projects in ASEAN.

Expressing China’s appreciation, Zhang said China is willing to continue to maintain exchange of high-level visits with Cambodia, well implement the consensus reached by the leaders in order to forge ahead bi-lateral ties and deepen cooperation in various fields.

China is ASEAN’s largest trading partner, and ASEAN is China’s third-largest trading partner. To achieve the goal, China and ASEAN signed an agreement late a year ago to upgrade the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area to further liberalize and facilitate bilateral trade and investment.
