A stretch of Interstate 290 eastbound and westbound near Harlem was closed for a while and First Avenue near the expressway was closed, too, the Chicago Tribune reported, citing the Illinois State Police.
CTA Blue Line service was temporarily halted between the Austin and Harlem stops.
“ISP is investigating the fatality involving the suspect that jumped onto I-290”, the news release reads.
All lanes of I-290 were shut down about 8:30 p.m.at Harlem, and traffic was still being diverted off the highway at 1st Avenue as of 10:15 p.m.
Two more suspects were arrested and the fourth got away, police said.
