At least four times in his post-game press conference, Carson Wentz was asked if he was nervous as he played in his first National Football League game. Maybe Cleveland should trade for the Eagles’ long snapper John Doran – a finalist on America’s Got Talent for his magician ability. “I really don’t get nervous”, Wentz said. He had zero pressure, thanks to a lot of youth on the defensive line.
Obviously this football season isn’t about the Browns winning a title.
Derek Carr threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Seth Roberts and a two-point conversion pass to Michael Crabtree as the Raiders defeated the New Orleans Saints 35-34.
Wentz did his part in the debut, appearing ready for the big stage the Eagles gave him earlier than expected.
“Momentum. All of a sudden we had a ball snapped over the quarterback’s head [which turned into a safety]”.
“Normally in those situations … it kind of takes the wind out of the sails defensively, and you know, I was in that mode of, I wanted to stay aggressive with Carson and the guys, and just dialed it up the next play”, Pederson said. It would have been nice to finish that drive with a touchdown. I hope that this is just a growing pain for the Browns and that the offensive identity for the Browns will get better with time.
“We have stuff to work on, Browns rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman said”.
The hit left Griffin’s left arm looking limp for the rest of the game and now the Browns say that he will undergo tests on his shoulder on Monday.
