Army foils infiltration bid, 3 militants killed
This was the highest number of attempted ingress reported in one day from Tanghdar, Nowgam and Gurez sectors of Kupwara and Bandipore districts in recent months. The militants, Army added, made another attempt to enter Kashmir through Gurez sector in Bandipore.
Alert troops foiled yet another infiltration bid killing three heavily armed militants near Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning, official sources said. “The fire was returned by the soldiers, triggering an encounter”, he said.
He said bodies of the slain militants, whose identity and affiliation was being ascertained, were recovered.
