Short-handed Patriots hang on to defeat Cardinals
Tonight’s New England Patriots vs Arizona Cardinals NFL Sunday Night Football game has a start time schedule of 8:30pm eastern time and airs on TV channel NBC.

When the Patriots settled for a field goal with 12:35 to play, Arizona drove 79 yards in under 3 minutes to set up a 1-yard touchdown catch by Fitzgerald, who became the 10th player in National Football League history with 100 touchdown catches. Fuller dropped what potentially would have resulted in an 83-yard touchdown late in the first half yet finished with five catches for 107 yards.
Scratch that. Garoppolo isn’t auditioning for Brady’s job.
When news broke out this offseason that defensive end Chandler Jones would be traded by the New England Patriots, it was literally out of nowhere.
Through all of that, the Patriots also put Garoppolo in position to help the defense, by making it stay on the field for only 23 minutes.
The Arizona Cardinals had a shot to win it but a low snap caused kicker Chandler Catanzaro to miss the potentially game-winning field goal and the Red Birds fell to the New England Patriots 23-21 on Sunday night.
Coming off this confidence-building win, the Patriots return home to Foxborough for a game against the Miami Dolphins. Their defensive front can also be special if they can continue to make key plays like this against tough opponents. He didn’t keep to his checkowns, and spread the ball downfield.
“I had this one circled with a red marker”, Jones said. Arians said Garoppolo reminds him of a young Tony Romo. “Drew got it down and he (Catanzaro) pulled it”.
Jimmy Garappolo, a third-year pro in his first start, completed 24 of 33 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. He never seemed rattled.
“He made a lot of good plays”, Belichick said. “He went out there and took command of the huddle and made plays when he had to.”. “We could not get off the field on third down”. There was Brady; there was Rob Gronkowski; there was Nate Solder; there was Jonathan Cooper.
Garoppolo’s play, especially his ability to limit mistakes, will be essential to a Patriots victory.
“We wanted to do something to remember him for that time and symbolize the fact that he’s on everybody’s mind”, Kraft said.
Garoppolo is starting New England’s first four games with Tom Brady’s Deflategate suspension.
“I don’t talk about my future”, he said. I thought we got great effort from all three phases, but a good complimentary game.
It appears Jimmy Garoppolo has been a good study. With his performance on Sunday night, he answered all of the questions surrounding his ability to lead the New England offense these first four weeks.
The Patriots took a 10-7 lead into the locker room at the half.
Hogan beat the Cardinals’ rookie cornerback, Brandon Williams, badly on the play.
Running back LeGarrette Blount dragged the entire Cardinals defense into the end zone to help get the Patriots a 17-7 lead.
A big factor in New England’s impressive offensive rating was their aversion to committing costly mistakes. Yet once news came down Friday night that Gronkowski would be out with his hamstring injury, common thought had seemed to shift nearly universally in the Cardinals’ favor.

He jump cut into the line, spun away from a would-be tackler, put his hand on the ground to steady his balance and stiff-armed another defender before racing down the sidelines. That set up a pretty over-the-shoulder catch by Fitzgerald, the 100th TD reception of his career. “I wish I could take it back but I can’t”.
