“Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies, ” Dr. Lisa R. Bardack said in the statement.
Clinton arrived at her Westchester County home about 1:30 p.m.
Hillary Clinton leaves her daughter’s apartment building in NY where she rested after leaving a 9/11 memorial ceremony feeling unwell.
Another 90 minutes later her campaign team issued a statement which read that she attended the morning ceremony for 90 minutes “to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen. It’s a attractive day in NY”.
Clinton, 68, was diagnosed on Friday but her condition only came to light several hours after a video on social media appeared to show her swaying and her knees buckling before being helped into a motorcade as she left the memorial early Sunday. “She lost her shoe and everything”.
After leaving her daughter’s, Clinton was driven to her home in Chappaqua, New York, and made no public appearances.
Clinton suffered a two-minute coughing fit during an event in Cleveland last week, which she blamed on allergies.
The candidate was attending the ceremony at the September 11 memorial in Manhattan on the 15th anniversary of the deadly terror attacks.
He was asked after the event about what he knew regarding Clinton’s medical episode but he said he had not heard anything yet.
Several Clinton allies said the incident underscored the candidate’s resilience.
Dr. Harold Bornstein, Trump’s personal physician, released a letter (PDF) in December 2015 that lacked much medical detail, but noted that Trump would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency”.
On Friday, Clinton told donors that “half” of rival Donald Trump’s supporters are in a “bucket of deplorables” – a comment that drew sharp criticism from Republicans.
Last week, Clinton had an extensive coughing fit during a Labor Day rally in Cleveland, making it hard for her to speak for about two minutes. As she exited the apartment shortly before noon, Clinton said, “I’m feeling great”. The state department said in a press release that the cause was a stomach virus.
In a follow-up doctor appointment to monitor the progress of her concussion recovery, doctors discovered the secretary of state had a blood clot. She takes the blood thinner Coumadin, Vitamin B12, Armour Thyroid and antihistamines.
