Percy Harvin: Former Seahawks teammates were always ‘acting like kids’

In the Buffalo News interview, Harvin says that Tate and Baldwin would switch their positions in practice so as to grab more receptions, and that they were both resistant of welcoming another wide receiver into the fold. Let’s get it collectively and let’s go on the market and kill individuals.

As reported by ESPN and other outlets, Tate said he was surprised by the comments and that he didn’t feel threatened by Harvin in Seattle. “It was something that got under my skin. I felt like they have been appearing like youngsters”.

And that carefully considered response?

A little back and forth between a couple of ex-Seattle Seahawks made its way to Dearborn after Monday night’s Detroit Lions practice. “So I left it at that. I think his role in Seattle and my role in Seattle were different, so there was no need for me to be jealous”.

The situation came to a head during the week leading up to the Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVIII win over the Denver Broncos. Like I said, we thought everything was fine.

Just five games into the 2014 season, after failing to find an ideal role for him on the field and multiple altercations with teammates, the Seahawks decided to part ways with the talented but troubled Harvin after just 19 months, shipping him to the New York Jets on October. 17, 2014 for a conditional draft pick. “I like the way the offense is playing out to use him”.

This is not the first beef between Harvin and Tate. Things escalated in the run up to Super Bowl week.

Harvin continued, “We all played the same position”. While many were quick to point the finger of blame at the notoriously hard to get along with Harvin, Harvin claims that simply isn’t the case. “They wanted to show they were already established having made it to the NFC Championship the year before I got there”. In order that they type of had the strategy of, ‘We do not want anyone else.

Tate, though, says that’s hogwash.

“Last time I talked with Percy or even saw him was at the White House visit, that’s when I saw him”, Tate said. I want to see him ball out, personally.

“Everybody calls him, “Tough Doug” or ‘Angry Doug, ‘” he said.

“I’m not the one who released him from the team”, Tate said.

Where did those comments come from? “I know he can make tough throws and I’m pretty sure he has the strongest arm in the NFL”. “And I’ll still be watching his film trying to learn some things”.

Tate and Harvin played just one season together in 2013, when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. Then he was traded away last season and the stories of what led to that trade have affected how Harvin is perceived.
