North Las Vegas police said law officers apprehended Alonso Perez, 25, at a residence about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

On Sept. 2, 25-year-old Alonso Perez was brought into the North Las Vegas Police Department’s (NLVPD) detective bureau under suspicion for murder.

Patty cautions anyone who comes into contact with Perez to not confront him and instead call the North Las Vegas police.

It was then that Perez managed to break his metal handcuffs and escape. It was found a few hours later, abandoned in a neighborhood several miles east of downtown Las Vegas.

Witnesses say the shooting followed an argument about holding a door open for a woman. “Now we take steps to prevent it from happening again”.

“The first concern is finding Perez, who is described as 6’3” Hispanic male with a large Air Jordan tattoo on his neck.

“Believe me, this is the last thing we wanted to happen”, Patty said.

The family of the man Perez allegedly killed told TV KSNV in Las Vegas, they are furious authorities allowed him to get away.

Officers first took Perez into custody Friday morning after he was suspected in the shooting death of a man after an altercation at a McDonald’s on August 27.

It was another 25 minutes before detectives realized he was missing, the police chief said. Moments later, Perez stole a white 2016 Ford F-250 pickup truck with Nevada license plate #26C819.

Patty said murder and other charges are expected to be filed against Perez on Wednesday.

‘We’re not ideal. The police are simply not flawless, ‘ Chief Perez said.

It began when Perez was placed in the small, seemingly secure interview room, his every move recorded and later played back to detectives.

‘Someone will monitor the video at all times, ‘ he revealed.
