Clinton health scare as she ‘faints’ in public

Hillary Clinton’s doctor says she is being treated for pneumonia and dehydration following her abrupt exit from a 9/11 memorial event in NY earlier today NZT.

However, a video posted on Twitter by a person who was at the memorial showed Clinton, surrounded by her staff and Secret Service agents, stumble and her legs buckle as she tried to get into her vehicle. On Friday, she was diagnosed with pneumonia and is now on antibiotics and advised to rest and modify her schedule, said Bardack.

“This comes less than a week after Clinton had a coughing fit at a rally in Cleveland. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely”.

“The canceling of the events is presumably to give Clinton time to recover before the final stretch of less than two months until Election Day”.

Clinton is likely to resume campaigning Wednesday, but will nearly certainly not fly to Nevada.

It was not yet clear whether Clinton would stick to a hectic schedule that has her travelling to California on Monday for several campaign and fundraising events. “She said she was suffering from seasonal allergies”, Tamara adds.

A Fox News host, Todd Starnes, tweeted on Monday that Trump in an interview had extended his well wishes to Hillary and said he hoped that she gets back on the campaign trail soon.

Neither candidate has released a more complete medical report, though Trump recently told ABC News that he would do so. “I think they’re going to be good”. “I feel great”, Clinton said. There is no evidence to support such theories, but the lack of information about the candidates’ health has been a feature of this campaign.

Clinton and her Republican rival Donald Trump had arrived separately at the 9/11 memorial in downtown Manhattan. Despite Trump’s numerous missteps, the race remains close and many Americans view Clinton as untrustworthy.

On Friday, she told donors that “half” of Mr Trump’s supporters are in a “basket of deplorables” – a comment that drew sharp criticism from Republicans.

The diagnosis and illness on Sunday come after some tough days for Clinton, as national polls+ showed her lead over Trump diminishing.

A presidential candidate is at high risk for such an infection, said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University. The letter included Clinton’s lab test results and medications she is taking. Aides provided no information about why she left or her whereabouts for almost two hours.

Merrill said Clinton felt “overheated” at the ceremony and was taken to the apartment of her daughter, Chelsea.

At first, her aides declined to explain her exit yesterday, and would not disclose where she had been taken. A few hours later, Mrs. Clinton emerged from her daughter’s house, waving and hugged a little girl.

Democratic Representative Joe Crowley of NY, a Clinton supporter who attended the event, told Reuters that it was “incredibly, stiflingly hot” during the ceremony.

She then joined a motorcade – without the group of reporters designated to accompany her in public – and continued on to her home in Chappaqua, N.Y., according to campaign spokesman Nick Merrill.

“Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies”, Clinton’s physician Lisa Bardack said in a statement released by Clinton’s campaign on Sunday (11 September).
