There is apparently a serious possibility that Jacob deGrom won’t make his next start for the New York Mets.
The righthander, who was seen motioning to trainer Ray Ramirez after leaving Thursday night’s game, is suffering from inflammation in the forearm and likely will miss his next start, the Mets announced Friday. Further, the Mets say there’s no “structural damage” and that deGrom will take anti-inflammatory medication. He’s lost each of his last three starts while not lasting longer than five innings and allowing at least three earned runs in all of those starts.
DeGrom got seven days off before pitching Thursday night because the Mets were anxious he was worn out.

Jose Urena (3-5) outpitched deGrom (7-8) as Miami averted a four-game sweep.

The Mets are only two games out of the second Wild Card and their schedule is incredibly easy the rest of the way, but roadblocks keep getting thrown in their way.
