At least not so far. Not just deGrom, but for Mets manager Terry Collins too.

DeGrom got seven days between starts because the Mets anxious he was worn out, but he still struggled.

Montero started on August 29 against the Marlins and pitched five scoreless innings, but walked six batters. The Mets have taken the first three from the Miami Marlins in this crucial series and are red-hot, having won nine of their last 11 games.

Mets fans can be forgiven if they’re skeptical given what’s transpired in Queens that last two seasons, dating back to March 2015 when righty Zack Wheeler said his arm was OK, that a blister on his finger was more of a concern.

Montero had a spot start for deGrom on Monday against the Marlins and tossed five scoreless innings, although Montero also walked six batters and threw 100 pitches. Slugger Yoenis Cespedes, shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and several of the club’s young pitchers also have missed time.

Cabrera connected on a two-run, pinch-hit homer in the ninth to make things interesting late but Fernando Rodney was able to shut the door as the Marlins snapped a five-game losing streak.

“This year, Walker has been a big part of this team, it’s a shame”, infielder Wilmer Flores said.

Miami Marlins’ Christian Yelich trots the bases after hitting a sixth-inning solo home run off New York Mets starting pitcher Bartolo Colon in a baseball game Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, in New York.

The loss drops the Mets two games behind the idle St. Louis Cardinals in the wild card standings.

Astros (71-62) at Rangers (80-54), 8:05 p.m. ET: One game out of the Tigers and Orioles for the second wild card, the Astros open a tough three-game series with in-state rival the Rangers. After Jay Bruce flew out to right, Travis d’Arnaud walked to load the bases, bringing up Johnson.

The Mets later loaded the bases with no outs that inning, but Michael Conforto hit into a double play and Cespedes struck out to end the rally.

“Like I said, it’s nothing serious, I just mentioned, “Hey, my forearm’s a little stiff” after the game, and I told you guys last night I thought I was fine, and I think I am”, he said.
