Assad spoke after prayers marking the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha in the battered city of Daraya, which the government recently retook from rebel forces, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.

Russian Federation and the USA will then establish a joint centre to combat jihadist groups, including so-called Islamic State and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (known until recently as the Nusra Front).
Monday’s ceasefire represents a beginning of an at-least temporary letup in the war, and a chance for some much-needed humanitarian relief for the hundreds of thousands of embattled Syrians who have endured this five-year-old conflict.
The Syrian government welcomed the agreement and pledge to observe the ceasefire.
The deal has received the endorsement of President Bashar al-Assad’s government and its key allies – Russia, Iran and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
– “After seven continuous days of adherence to the cessation of hostilities and increased humanitarian access, then U.S. and Russian experts will work together to defeat” Fateh al-Sham and the Islamic State jihadist group, Kerry said.
The agreement reached by the USA secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Serguéi Lavrov seems like the most decisive attempt for peace since the beginning of the conflict.
Under the terms of the agreement, the rebels and the Syrian government are expected to stop attacking one another.
But they will nevertheless abide by the cease-fire to regroup after a punishing contest with pro-government forces over Aleppo.
Omar said Syria Civil Defense teams couldn’t reach the site quickly because of the road closures.
But only hours after it was announced, Syria’s army attacked rebel-held areas in the northern city of Aleppo, both sides said, as the military pushed to maximise gains before the ceasefire deadline. “It was violated by the regime”, Kodmani said. The U.S. also committed to severing the ties between the al-Qaida fighters and American-backed rebels fighting Assad.
Over the past 40 days, more than 2,000 people have died as a result of fighting in Aleppo – with a human rights group claiming that 700 civilians and 160 children were among those killed.
Under this deal, the USA and Russian Federation will decide when Nusra is present and when they are not in a group of rebels.
The deal worked out between the USA and Russian Federation to bring the Syrian peace process back on track finally attempts to tackle the issue of which militant groups can be recognised as legitimate opposition outfits.
Millions have fled overseas, many of them seeking asylum in the European Union, but almost 18 million people remain in Syria, which has been carved up by fighting between government and rebel forces.
USA secretary of state John Kerry said that US -backed opposition groups will separate themselves from the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) militants operating in Syria, as well as Jabhat Fatah al-Sham.
The accord is the latest effort by the US and Russian Federation to halt violence that has killed more than 280,000 people over 5 1/2 years.
Syria’s government has not issued an official comment on the truce, but Syrian state media on Saturday quoted what it called private sources as saying the government had given its approval.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Saturday in announcing the arrangement that if successful, it will lead to a “significant reduction in violence across Syria”.
