Planned Parenthood To Sue Over Florida Citations

Planned Parenthood is suing, saying the state is using a “new and unpublished” definition of trimesters to cite the clinic.

We’ll see what future videos bring – and what defense Planned Parenthood mounts. But there is no evidence for the claims that many of them have made – in particular that Planned Parenthood is profiting off of selling fetal tissue and organs (which would be against the law).

Gov. Terry Branstad said Monday his administration is reviewing grant money being paid to Planned Parenthood to consider options going forward.

Planned Parenthood said the abortions in questions were first trimester abortions and that the state had arbitrarily changed the way it measures the first trimester, shortening it to 12 weeks from 14.

Ernst and Blunt co-sponsored a failed bill that would have defunded Planned Parenthood over spurious allegations of wrongdoing by the Center for Medical Progress, an anti-choice front group that has released deceptively edited and possibly illegal undercover videos attacking Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue donation program. However, the truth is there are countless other clinics in our country that provide those services that don’t dismember babies and sell their body parts to the highest bidder.

Spokespersons for ABC, NBC and CBS did not immediately respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment.

“Federal law requires that patients have their choice of a Medicaid-qualified provider-like Planned Parenthood.”

However, Sara Rosenbaum, a professor of health law and policy at George Washington University, told the Daily Signal that should Planned Parenthood cease to exist, the other healthcare facilities would not be equipped to absorb the abortion provider’s patients. “You can map all you want and the fact of the matter is health centers are not magicians and health care doesn’t work this way”. However, it is used for family planning services. “It will depend on whether they will create new and excessive reporting burdens or additional barriers to women accessing abortion health care”. AHCA spokeswoman Katherine Riveire said in a statement Monday that Planned Parenthood reported the unlawful abortions.

Only 6 percent of the networks’ total time spent covering the Planned Parenthood controversy consisted of playing the footage itself.

Despite this response, however, these videos have incited a campaign to “defundPlanned Parenthood that has since been joined by Republicans in Congress, state capitals (especially in the South), and several 2016 presidential candidates.
