College GameDay sign pays off in big way for one fan

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer got UofL football fans in a GameDay state of mind earlier Saturday.

College GameDay is a three-hour pregame show that gets football fans across America ready for the day’s action every Saturday in the fall. When given the opportunity to send a message to thousands of college football fans on national television, you created the flawless sign to inspire hundreds of donations (and counting) to your beer fund.

According to multiple reports, College GameDay will chose to be in Louisville, Ky., next Saturday for Louisville’s top-15 matchup with Florida State.

Since the sign appeared on television, hundreds of those people have sent money to Crowder’s Venmo username. While Sam Crowder’s mother may not have complied, many viewers did. His solution? A College GameDay sign. Somehow the sign made it on TV right behind Kirk Herbstreit’s head.

There’s still no word on whether Crowder’s mother has sent him any beer money yet. He held up a sign that said “Hi Mom!” College students, it turns out, have very little money, and insatiable desires for beer and pizza, both of which require money to acquire. Through two games, including Florida State’s opening win over Ole Miss, he has completed 69% of his throws with five touchdowns and only one interception. The real victor, though, is Crowder.
