The setback could keep Romo sidelined for up to 10 weeks. With the Cowboys in need of another quarterback to back up preseason sensation Dak Prescott, could they acquire Murray to fill that role? “He’s going to handle the moment well”. If Prescott can lead the Cowboys to a 3-2 record in the five games Romo is sure to miss – games against the Giants, Redskins, Bears and 49ers are imminently winnable – it will be a huge momentum boost for the rest of the season. He’s also run for two scores. Others thought the Texas team should look outside their own roster and pick up one of the many available quarterbacks in a league that is deep with talent this season. I myself believe that Steven A. Smith is being a hater on this one.
Prescott, who broke 38 school records at MSU, has been compared to another Mullen taught quarterback. Tebow was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2010 and played two seasons before being traded to the New York Jets. Prescott would be the first rookie to start for the Cowboys since Quincy Carter in 2001. The sad part is that Romo’s eventual departure seems like much more of an inevitability now than it was at this time last week.
Head coach Jason Garrett said during a conference call that the team will monitor the injury on a day-to-day basis. “He was not going to shy away from the spotlight and everybody sees that now and how he’s performing now”. He earned it on the practice field, in the huddle, and in preseason games.

In fact, Irvin was a big believer in Prescott from the start. Unlike Weeden and Cassell past year, Prescott seems capable of doing more than going out hoping not to get beat, he’s capable of helping the team win. If you are going to let him play, let him play the whole year and don’t give him an inclination that he could be demoted once Romo is well again. “To have the opportunity to play for the Dallas Cowboys is an honor”.
