We can’t pay Black Stars bonuses – Vanderpuye

Ghana have already booked a spot and for them, the game will be a formality.

With MOYS deciding that its funds would be better spent elsewhere, Ayew has chose to step in even though the West Ham player is now out injured.

With the competitive qualifier in the books, the Black Stars are now off to Moscow for a friendly match against 2018 World Cup hosts Russian Federation.

The chaotic build up to the match which included the ministry’s order that only home-based players must be used compounded problems.

Ghana vice-captain Andre Ayew has offered to pay the travel costs for seven Black Stars so they can play in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations tie. Indeed, one could even say it is an attempt by the Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuije to show who is boss.

The Black Stars claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Rwanda when the teams met in their group match in Kigali a year ago, with Mubarak Wakaso scoring a late goal to see the West Africans to victory. So the Rwanda game is actually a preparatory match of sorts for Grant and his coaching staff, which is why the big guns were all invited.

I condemned the actions of the players back then, but that should be the end of it, especially with such a hard group that contains the likes of Egypt, Congo and Uganda to come in terms of world cup qualification.
