The theft comes days after the NYPD arrested a man for allegedly stealing $600 from a 93-year-old woman’s bra as she sat in a wheelchair inside a Manhattan store.
An 85-year-old woman was robbed by another woman while sitting in her wheelchair on Sunday in the West Bronx, police said.
“She said “Hello” and then we said, “It’s a handsome day.’ She said “It sure is” and that’s when she grabbed my bag and ran down the street”, Starnes said, explaining the incident”.
They say a woman approached the victim’s wheelchair and grabbed her pocketbook, containing cash and bank cards before running away.
On Monday, police officers visited Starnes and gave her $130 to replace the money that was taken from her purse. One neighbor told CBS New York she sees Starnes outside the building every morning.
Neighors said many in the building pitch in to help Starnes.

“That’s why they’re New York’s best”, she said. Video later shows the suspect throwing an object into a trash can.
