Steph Curry Supports Colin Kaepernick’s National Anthem Protest
NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry, who passed up the chance to represent the United States at the 2016 Olympics, has come out in support of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his continued refusal to stand for the national anthem.

Goodell told the Associated Press that he doesn’t “necessarily agree” with Kaepernick’s action but recognized the quarterback’s right to protest. I wasn’t expecting my jersey sales to jump to number one because of this, but it shows the people’s belief that we can achieve justice and equality for ALL! The NFL gets going Thursday, and we’ll start to see whether or not other players join in over the next few days.
Since Kaepernick chose to protest the national anthem, additional NFL players have come forward in support ― most recently Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall on Thursday.
Colin Kaepernick spoke out Wednesday about his protest of police shootings and perceived mistreatment of minority communities, the same day that the NFL’s top executive weighed in on the controversy. We encourage our players to be respectful in that time and I like to think of it as a moment where we can unite as a country. But I think that comes along with people’s fear of this protest, as well as Islamophobia in this country.
Kaepernick is continuing his protest by kneeling during the National Anthem instead of sitting.
Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest has found plenty of supporters among athletes, but Shaquille O’Neal is not one of them.
John Tortorella, Team USA’s coach for the World Cup of Hockey, reiterated on Wednesday that any player that doesn’t stand for the anthem will sit for the game. “You have your right to do that, but to bring that flag and anthem into it and drag that down, no way”.
Tortorella’s son Nick is an Army Ranger and is deployed in the Middle East.
These are all important things for us, and that moment is a very important moment.
Kaepernick provided something of an answer today, ESPN reports, when he announced on Instagram that he will donate all the proceeds he receives from jersey sales to charity. “I have great respect for them”, Kaepernick said.
A neighbor who said he has lived on the block for more than 15 years said Kaepernick’s protest has been met with resounding disapproval by residents in the community. I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about.
I want to make sure I get all my ducks in a row before I do so, Baldwin said.

“He’s someone who also realizes there’s many issues that need to be addressed and need changing in this country”, Kaepernick said Wednesday.
