Disheartening loss in opener shows Jaguars making progress

The offense scored on five of its last seven possessions. Luckily for the Packers, Rodgers showed once again what a magician he can be, even with just a sliver of space. “That’s why I said from the get-go, it depends on the flow of the game”. The defense sacked him three times for a loss of 20 yards.

Corey Clement ran for two scores before leaving with an injury, Jazz Peavy had two touchdown catches and No. 10 Wisconsin stuffed Akron’s spread offense in a 54-10 win on Saturday. The passes were on point and right where they needed to be.

The Packers defense had big stops in the closing drive to hold off the Jaguars in their 27-23 victory in week one.

Jacksonville controlled most of the play in between those scores. On Sunday Night Football, the Packers will be heading into the brand new US Bank stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota to take on the Vikings.

If the kickoff temperature is above 90, it would mark the third-hottest game in team history.

The running game needs to set the tone. That’s good, because the toughest game of the season is likely next week. And they nearly did, but the defense swarmed Hurns on the critical play. With newcomer Chris Ivory being a go after appearing bangged up this week, the Jaguars need to throw a mix of Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon at the Packers defense and wear them down. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles finished 24 of 39 for 320 yards with a touchdown and one interception. Don’t expect much from the Chicago Bears, they can only rely on Quarterback Jay Cutler and coach John Fox. You’re ideal going to Robinson over the middle. “Whenever you have that type of a combination, that’s what all teams are trying to build and they are both elite players”. Hurns was their leading receiver on the day with 4 for 75 yards on 5 targets.

The unnecessary roughness call was actually one of the more eventful occurrences for the Jaguars defensive line on Sunday. And on Sunday against Jacksonville, he broke up a long pass on which he ran with 6-foot-3 receiver Allen Robinson stride for stride and looked like the intended receiver when he almost intercepted the pass as the two fell out of bounds.

“I don’t think we played very well offensively”, Rodgers said.

“Our standard of play is nowhere where we want it to be, but it’s good enough to win on Week 1”, McCarthy said.

It’s been a closer game than expected for the Green Bay Packers against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
