Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams defends 75-cent tip for waitress

DeAngelo Williams was called out on social media for leaving nearly no tip at a restaurant in Maryland over the weekend, and the Pittsburgh Steelers running back says the 75 cents he gave was too much.

The server took exception to Williams leaving a 75-cent tip and blasted him on social media. She never asked for refills.

“Just now at work I had Deangelo Williams come in and I waited on while tending bar”. Williams has (so far) sent out more than three dozen tweets on the issue, as he goes back and forth on the issues of customer service and tipping with workers in the food service industry.

Specifically, he said he ordered chicken and shrimp in pasta, but it came on his salad instead.

When he pointed out the mistake, “They took it back and removed it from salad and put It in my pasta leaving a shrimp tail in the salad”. Williams also caught six passes for 28 more to finish with 171 yards from scrimmage.

“I tried to leave exact change but couldn’t”, Williams said.

Another server defended Williams, saying he always tips well when he comes to eat at her restaurant.

“At the end of the day, you took up this server’s time and energy, and you should compensate them for that”, another Twitter user chimed in.

The Steelers running back said he had a bad experience in a restaurant and left his waitress a tiny tip.

He added, “terrible service” equates to a poor tip. “If it was good, she would have gotten a $40 tip”.
