Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall’s shirt burned by angry fan
On Thursday night, before the league’s nationally televised opening game between the Broncos and the Panthers, Marshall kneeled during the anthem, a sign of solidarity with San Francisco 49ers quarterback (and Marshall’s University of Nevada teammate) Colin Kaepernick, whose protests have become one of the dominant storylines as the 2016 season gets underway.

Marshall was a college teammate of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was the first National Football League player this season to refuse to stand for the anthem in protest of various occurrences of controversial police shootings in the United States.
What are your thoughts on Brandon Marshall standing with Colin Kaepernick by not standing for the National Anthem during the NFL opener on Thursday night.
With these strong ties to the US military, the credit union said in a statement on Friday that Marshall’s move not to stand for the national anthem went against what it stands for.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall will pay the price for joining in with the protests against the national anthem that have dominated the headlines in the NFL over the last number of weeks.
Air Academy Federal Credit Union, which mostly serves members of the military and their families, announced on social media Friday that it was ending its five-month relationship with Marshall. “We wish Brandon well on his future endeavours”, Strebe wrote.
“It’s going to be a special day, a very significant day, but at the same time I think I’m looking forward to the many better changes that we can make”. “That’s why I stand and put my hand on the heart”.
Marshall said Monday he plans to meet with the Denver Police Chief and the police union on Tuesday, saying he has good ideas for both parties.
A trio of Tennessee Titans – Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, cornerback Jason McCourty and linebacker Wesley Woodyard – raised their right fists after the national anthem and four Miami Dolphins kneeled on the sideline with their hands on their hearts as “The Star Spangled Banner” played in Seattle. But I know my loved ones, the people that love me and care about me, they’re going to stand behind me, and that’s all that matters to me.
On Friday, Marshall retweeted messages of support for his action. He said Virgil Green was the only teammate he trust on the Denver Broncos that he told before the contest that he wouldn’t stand during the national anthem.

“I don’t necessarily see that as a solution to anything”, Foster said then. I support our players when they want to see change in society, and we don’t live in a flawless society. “I fought for all your rights, so I support you”.
