David Luis has made a sensational return to Stamford bridge after Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain reached a 41.9 millions dollars deal for the Brazilian defender.

Luiz said: “I’m delighted to return to Chelsea. I can’t wait to wear the shirt and play in Stamford Bridge again”.

Luiz left Chelsea for Paris Saint-Germain in a £50million deal in 2014, but returned to London in a £32m deadline day deal on Wednesday after Conte was left frustrated in his summer search for defensive reinforcements.

Earlier on the same day, the club announced the signing of Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso on a five-year deal.

He told The Mirror: “Don’t get me wrong, Luiz is a decent footballer”.

He made 143 appearances, scoring 12 goals, before his record-breaking switch to PSG.

Luiz won the 2012 Champions League and 2013 Europa League with Chelsea before moving to PSG prior to the 2014 World Cup.

The Brazilian defender’s decision to rejoin the Blues came two years after he joined the Ligue 1 giants for a £50m fee.

Chelsea correspondent Liam Twomey delves into where David Luiz will fit into Antonio Conte’s plans.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s United States defender Matt Miazga has joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan until the end of the season.

Conte has been seeking a centre-back for much of this summer, as Kurt Zouma is still recovering from a major knee injury and John Terry’s contract expires next year.

“I’m very happy. It’s a step up in my career and I think this is the flawless place for me to continue developing”.

“My family and close friends know Chelsea is the club I have dreamed about playing for”, Alonso added.
