Sam Allardyce takes ridiculous stance on Wayne Rooney and England role

Bohunicky told local media: “I knew that the manager of England would stay in my office”.

John Stones insisted that England’s 1-0 win over Slovakia in Sam Allardyce’s first game in charge was nothing like the 0-0 draw between the two sides at Euro 2016.

Allardyce said after the victory that he “can’t stop” Rooney playing deeper, despite seemingly admitting that the Manchester United man had gone against his instructions.

Adam Lallana snatched a 95th-minute victor against 10-man Slovakia in Trnava on Sunday (Monday in Manila) to prevent Allardyce from becoming the first England manager since Bobby Robson in 1982 not to win his first game. He was brilliant and controlled midfield.

“Adam Lallana is one of our most skilful players but for all but the last few seconds of Sunday’s game I thought his final product was lacking”, said Redknapp, “Then he pops up with the victor and, although it was a little fortunate, that goal will have done Lallana the world of good”.

Put worldwide experience to the side, the former West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers boss is the England manager, and he tells players where they should play and must take players out who are harming the team in general.

“It is nice to have played another game for England so that the one at the Euros is not the last one now”.

“Slovakia just parked the bus”, added Allardyce. “I opened the door and found the jersey of Sterling with the captain’s armband of Rooney”.

Don’t think there wasn’t any Huddersfield Town input into England’s World Cup qualifying victory in Slovakia.

“It’s not for me to say where he’s going to play”, said the former Sunderland, West Ham, Newcastle and Bolton boss, 61.

“Yes he played a bit deeper than he does at United, but Wayne’s comfortable, when I talk to him, about the position”. Credit to the lads, we’ve worked hard since the new manager has come in and it’s a great start. I played in that role and helped us win the game.

“We, as a team, have the character and the enthusiasm”.

“It was a good battle up there and we created some good chances, I had some half-chances that on another day could have sneaked in but overall I was happy with the way things went”.
