Doug Baldwin announced anthem plans before consulting all teammates
Expectation is growing that several members of the Seattle Seahawks – possibly the entire team – may engage in a demonstration during the national anthem Sunday before their game against the Miami Dolphins.

“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds”, he said in the video.
Nate Boyer, a free agent long snapper and former US Army Special Forces Soldier, added that he had talked to “the Seahawks” (not specifically mentioning anyone), and that the team will do a “powerful sign of unification + respect for the Anthem + those that fight for our Freedom!” As I said before, we need to find answers without violence or vitriol.
Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane has already indulged his strike against the United States by remaining seated during the anthem, but now receiver Doug Baldwin says he may be next to join Lane in his protest, according to The Seattle Times. Boyer spoke to Colin Kaepernick about his protest and as a result, the 49ers quarterback made a decision to kneel for the Anthem, rather than sit. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick famously started the trend by sitting, before modifying his method of protest to kneeling.
Players this week agreed to take unified action on Sunday when they host Miami as America commemorates the devastating attacks on NY and Washington 15 years ago.
“I don’t necessarily see that as a solution to anything”, Foster said then.
“It has to be a team-first approach in order to get anything done”, Boyer said.
Another player, Doug Baldwin, said is considering joining Lane.
Although Obama admitted this move is one that may be hard for people in uniform to get passed, he said he doesn’t doubt Kaepernick’s sincerity.
While Baldwin’s tweet wouldn’t seem on the surface as if the team was necessarily planning an anthem protest, per se, but something is definitely up in the Emerald City and we like it.
“I think understanding that is very important, and they have”, Carroll said. That’s what the world needs to see. “And there’s people who have gone through the unexplainable, the unfathomable, so it kind of brings you back to reality that we’re all human beings trying to find our way”.
In a postgame interview, Kaepernick told NFL.com that he was “not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color”.

If they do decide to go through with this, one thing’s for sure – certain people will be pissed. I also appreciate that they want to see a positive change in this country.
