Lady Gaga releases new single, her first in three years

Lady Gaga has released her new single, Perfect Illusion.

In 2014, she released a collaborative jazz album with singer Tony Bennett called Cheek To Cheek. She said, “The song is about modern ecstasy”. It is the Mother Monster’s first solo release in nearly three years, since 2013’s Artpop album, and anticipation for the track has been high, helping it top the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart last month, weeks before its arrival.

Gaga’s fans – are wondering whether it’s about her split from fiance Taylor Kinney. The song premiered on iHeartRadio and was produced by Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) and BloodPop, as well as Ms. Germanotta herself. That’s something all of us can totally relate to.

Gaga shared clips from the song and the upcoming video on her social media, with Thursday’s Instagram snippet racking up over 350,000 views just hours before the song’s release. “I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it”. After the slightly experimental ArtPOP, which was a bit hard to digest for some fans, this is a totally welcome sound.

Gaga was introduced by drag queen DJ Jodie Harsh, who was dressed up to look like her, and the star then gave a rendition of her new single.
