Chargers WR Keenan Allen Out For Rest Of Season With Torn ACL

A fourth-year wide receiver out of California, Allen had six catches for 63 yards when he crumbled to the turf late in the first half Sunday.

The Chiefs’ retooled offensive line allowed Smith to be sacked three times, and a group of wide receivers expected to be much improved was unable to get open against a suspect San Diego secondary.

“I don’t think anyone is surprised at all”, said quarterback Alex Smith. But the Chargers were unable to keep any drives going in the fourth quarter, when the Chiefs were rallying for their 11th consecutive victory in the regular season. Coach Mike McCoy said he doesn’t know when Bosa will be ready to play.

Chargers-Chiefs Final Score: San Diego Chargers lose to Kansas City Chiefs 33-27 – Bolts From The Blue The Chargers choked away a victory, and they may have lost Keenan Allen for the season.

The probability would never shift back into San Diego’s favor.

The Chargers went up by a big margin early in the game and looked completely unstoppable.

“You’re going to have games like this that show your character, show your grit”, Coach Andy Reid said. “He’s got to do certain things to get on the field”. You have to bank on those things that you’ve built in your training camp, OTAs and all that hard work.

CHIEFS CHURNING: Even without running back Jamaal Charles, who continues his own comeback from an ACL injury, the Chiefs were able to run their usual offense with backup Spencer Ware. Each player knew that they played poorly in the first half and they all know that cannot happen again. Kansas City kicked a field goal to bring the game within a touchdown with just over three minutes remaining, but with so little time left on the clock, their win probability was just 3.1 percent. Woodhead carried 14 times for 89 yards but couldn’t find the end zone.

GORDON WAS GOOD: Melvin Gordon ran for the first two touchdowns of his career Sunday.

This made it second and 20 but the Chargers went on to run it twice. But it drives home the point that good teams can overcome poor starts, whether it’s a season, or a single game.

The Chiefs played without star pass rusher Justin Houston, who could be out until November as he recovers from ACL surgery in February.

“We got into a nice rhythm”, Chargers offensive tackle Joe Barksdale said, “but you just can’t let them back in”. He really got us going in the pass game.
