Pete Carroll: Russell Wilson’s ankle injury is ‘nothing very serious’

Whether you believe Golden Tate caught Russell Wilson‘s desperation pass on Monday Night Football in 2012, or you think it was picked off, it still goes down as a Seahawks win in the record books and one of the most freakish ones you’ll ever see.

They’ll look to do just that and take the next step forward next week at the Los Angeles Rams. “He’s walking around and he’s practicing on Wednesday”.

The quarterback hurt his ankle when he was sacked by Ndamukong Suh during the third quarter of the Seattle Seahawks’ 12-10 win over the Miami Dolphins at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.

In true Russell Wilson fashion, the QB tweeted early Monday: “Hard Work Pays Off!”

In an appearance on 710 ESPN in Seattle, Carroll described Wilson’s injury as “nothing very serious”.

Russell Wilson completed 27-of-43 passes for 258 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in Sunday’s Week 1 win over Miami.

“You can hardly tell anything’s wrong with him”, Carroll said. We know our business, make our plays. The revelation comes after a few days of players being coy about exactly what they had in mind for what Baldwin had said would be a demonstration of unity. “So I’m going to go along with that until I can’t”. Wilson had the ankle re-taped and struggled through the remainder of the game. “His attitude’s just always been the same”. “He got in a bad situation there, the way he got kicked”. “But I think we’re going to do our best in the community of Seattle to improve that relationship”. “I’m going to do this'”.

Although Wilson had limited mobility during the fourth quarter, he rallied his offense as soon as he saw Dolphin quarterback Ryan Tannehill score on a 2-yard draw to take the lead with 4:08 remaining.

Wilson, who has never missed a game or practice during his first four seasons in the National Football League, may be talking tough right now, but Carroll acknowledged the ankle is swollen, leading to the possibility Wilson may miss some practice time this week to receive treatment.

If he looks like he did at the end of Sunday’s season opener, Wilson can have a Seahawks job for life. The only quarterback behind Wilson on the depth chart is undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin. Graham was in for 17 snaps and had one catch for 11 yards.

“There will be conversations, yeah”, Carroll said. “We didn’t want to tax him too much”.

Miami’s momentum shifted back to Seattle on the last play of the first half when Hauschka made his second field goal and the Seahawks entered the locker room with a 6-3 advantage.
