Muslims mark start of Eid al-Adha holiday
I would like to congratulate the almost three million pilgrims who performed the Hajj this year, including thousands of Americans, and wish them safe travels home. In the UK, Islam is the second largest religion, with 2.7 million believers, or 4.5 per cent of the total population. Every Muslim, if you are healthy and can afford it, you have to travel to the holy cities, Mecca and Medina, to complete the pilgrimage. But, according to tradition, God stopped him and gave him a sheep to sacrifice instead of his son.

“We are commemorating [Abraham’s] tremendous act”, Ahmed said.
“Sa kanunay na namong giampo, among gipangaliya sa kahitas-an nga padayon mupatigbabaw ang kalinaw (We always pray for that, we ask from the heavens that peace will continue to dominate)”, Ubpon told Sun.Star Cebu.
The Defense Ministry has announced that it will permit 100,000 West Bank Palestinians to visit family in Israel during Eid al-Adha, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Yoav Mordechai, announced on Facebook. Rides will be available for students who want to attend the prayer. On the sacrifice ground, Allah replaced his son with an animal.
During the three-day holiday, Muslims slaughter livestock, distributing part of the meat to the poor. Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump could have even said – and be telling the truth this time – that he saw Muslims celebrating on 9/11. Hajj is a time when Muslims from many different countries, classes, and cultures stand together in prayer, a reminder of both the unity and diversity within Muslim communities. The food fluctuates, depending on the regions that different people come from. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you.

While many families exchange gifts to mark the holiday, Muslims are also encouraged to donate to charities to help those in need.
