Amy Poehler wins her first Emmy, finally
A woman who oversaw the wounds and warpaint of 14,000 extras on Game of Thrones is one of three talented people from Northern Ireland who helped the HBO fantasy drama clean up at the Creative Emmy Awards. To put that into perspective, just past year, “Thrones” was in a three-way tie with fellow prestige series “The West Wing” and “Hill Street Blues” for most-awarded drama, with 26 Emmys apiece.

“Game of Thrones” dominated the first night of the 2016 Creative Arts Emmys with a record-breaking nine wins. The West Wing and Hill Street Blue had 26 apiece.
The Emmys love Bryan Cranston so much, they even awarded a trophy to the installment of “Who Do You Think You Are” devoted to his ancestry.
“The industry is growing and we now have more than enough wonderful creativity to enjoy a second creative arts show where we can celebrate the excellence and achievement of this year’s work”. “Making a Murderer” won the Emmys for outstanding documentary or non-fiction series, writing, picture editing, and directing.
Poehler was part of the cast of “Saturday Night Live” from 2001 to 2008. Michele Clapton also took home an Emmy for her costume designs on “The Winds of Winter”- Cersei’s warrior queen outfit alone sealed the deal for that one. Peter Scolari grabbed the Outstanding Guest Actor counterpart for his turn on the HBO series, Girls. Last night Poehler finally won out at the Creative Arts Emmys, taking home the top award for Outstanding Guest Actress with longtime collaborator Tina Fey for her work on last year’s Saturday Night Live Christmas special. Angela Lansbury, nominated 17 times, never won.
On paper, Game of Thrones has everything on its side.
The Emmy Awards 2016 will be a showdown between “Game of Thrones” and “People vs O.J. Simpson”.
RuPaul picked up his first Emmy win for best host of a reality or reality competition show for RuPaul’s Drag Race.
