Paris Saint-Germain in rough patch ahead of Arsenal clash in UCL

Arsene Wenger breathed a sigh of relief after Arsenal won a stoppage-time penalty against Southampton and Santi Cazorla struck a 94th-minute victor to secure a 2-1 win on Saturday.

In contrast his fellow Frenchman Wenger said Arsenal can go into their Champions League tie against Paris Saint Germain in France next week with renewed confidence thanks to a 2-1 win on Saturday. It will be especially so for the new signing Shkodran Mustafi, as before last season with Valencia, who did not do too well and finished behind Zenit and Genk, he had just one Europa League appearance as a sub to his name. We have scored goals since the start of the season, but we bought one more striker because we thought we needed one more. In the second half, I think he combined much better. He is one of our best players, and when I think about the squad when you pick a captain, you think of one with a good chance to play. “I haven’t spoken to him yet, but it is very swollen”.

Koscielny suffered a nasty kick to the face in the build-up to the penalty but should play against PSG.

The German worldwide and Lucas Perez made their debuts following transfer window arrivals from Spain and Wenger said they both needed more matches.

“They were a bit surprised by the pace and the commitment of the Premier League [but] they will adapt to that”.

“In the second half we dominated but couldn’t score”.

Wenger believes Perez can deliver goals for Arsenal, whose win sees them sitting sixth with seven points from four games.

For Arsene Wegner’s side, Tuesday night will be the ideal chance to try and get a positive result against a fluttering PSG side, but Emery will be well aware of the threat and have his men ready to get out on the front foot.
