Well, if you were hoping to catch a glimpse of them Thursday night when Buffalo travels to Cleveland for a nationally televised preseason game, don’t bother tuning into ESPN.

While LeSean McCoy has suffered hamstring injuries in the past, he is considered a very durable player.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy hurt his left hamstring Tuesday night and is having tests to determine the extent of the injury. He limped off the field stiff-legged, the pain evident on his face as he was steadied by a trainer.

Bills coach Rex Ryan was expected to provide an update on McCoy after practice.

“I really don’t want to go there yet, because let’s get the prelim reports”, he said. For the first time, Rex Ryan categorized Fred Jackson’s hamstring injury as a “major” one. Against Cleveland, the Bills will have only Bronson Hill and Ricky Seale as their running backs.

McCoy joins Fred Jackson, Boobie Dixon, Bryce Brown and rookie Karlos Williams among the running backs who are out of preseason for the moment. Rookie Karlos Williams, seen as a serious challenger for the No. 2 running back job, is expected to be out for multiple weeks after a “procedure” that Ryan dubbed “sensitive”. “I don’t know fellas”.

Then Ryan started reeling off the problems at wide receiver, where the top three on the depth chart are all hurt.

Sammy Watkins was held out of Tuesday night’s session with a tight glute that he developed Monday. Ryan said Robert Woods missed practice on Tuesday after experiencing tightness, without specifying. The Bills were also without Percy Harvin due to a hip injury, to which Rex Ryan admitted that was worse than they initially thought.

Harvin’s been out almost a week, and he took an injection the other day, but hasn’t responded as quickly as the team had hoped.

“I’ve never seen it before”, Jackson said.

“It’s crazy, man. We feel like we’re cursed”, Dixon said. “It is what it is and we’ll have to make do”. “We were saying in the room, it’s like we’ve got some kind of curse on us. Well, not so fast”.

– Already without four running backs on the roster, the Buffalo Bills still had the man that they decided to feature the entire offense around. How absurd is this? “Two weeks ago, I was just sitting on a couch waiting for a call and now I could possibly start an NFL game”. “It’s quite the changeover over the last two weeks”.

Seale has suddenly gone from working with children who have autism in San Diego to preparing to get a significant amount of playing time at Cleveland.

Ryan, always trying to make light of a situation, joked that Seale shouldn’t have much trouble getting up to speed, given that he went to Stanford.

“I didn’t expect it to happen like this, no”, Seale said.
